After obtaining BA in Economics from Keio University, joined Yamaichi Securities Co. Ltd. and engaged in securities underwriting operations. At its locally-incorporated office in London, he was in charge of Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Obtained MBA from INSEAD, MC (Master of Commerce) from Otaru University of Commerce, and PhD in Medicine from Hokkaido University. Has served as Preliminary Review Committee member of the NEDO’s “R&D project for creation and commercialization of university-launched businesses”, a judge of the Japan Industrial Journal’s “Japan Biotech Venture Award”, lecturer of Entrepreneurship courses at CRIS (Creative Research Initiative “Sousei”) of Hokkaido University, and instructor of the Entrepreneurship course at Otaru University of Commerce. |
Minenobu OKAYAMA

BS in Fisheries from Hokkaido University. After engaged
in development of general medicines at Nissui Pharmaceutical
Co. Ltd., worked on the molecular designing for antilipentic
drugs, screening and DDS development as assistant to the
director of R & D section at Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical Co.
Inc. Then transferred to DNAVEC Research Inc., a genetic
vector development company established as part of a national
project as director of its patent licensing dept.
Currently serves as CEO and President of APT Co., Ltd.

Junichi MIURA

BA in Economics from Hokkaido University. Engaged in tax and accounting consulting at an accounting firm in Sapporo, being responsible for companies in various sectors such as medicine, IT, restaurants, real estate, etc. Then joined HVC to support entrepreneurs in the capacity of incubation expert by providing expertise to the companies in the fields of spin-out, business restructuring, company foundation, corporate merger and acquisition, etc.

Atsumi TOBITANI

MEng from Hokkaido University, PhD in life science from King’s College, University of London and MBA from Manchester Business School.
Worked for a major food manufacturer in Japan and Asia, Snow Brand Milk Products, Co. Ltd. as a scientist in charge of basic research on food physics and development of novel food materials. His missions at the company also included R&D strategy planning and project management. Having moved to a Japanese biotech start-up developing artificial oxygen carrier, Oxygenix, Co. Ltd., he was responsible for business planning, intellectual property management and technology analysis. In the spring of 2006, Dr Tobitani joined Hokkaido Venture Capital Inc., as a fund manager for technology-focused investment.

Norio MARUYAMA

BA in Law from Keio University. Joined Nippon Steel Corporation and engaged in production planning and production management at Muroran Works. Managed companies affiliated with Toyota and other important clients. And at VeriSign Japan K.K. joined after Cybertrust Japan Co., Ltd., he was responsible for raising awareness and dissemination, product planning, and business development of digital authentification technology as ICT infrastructure, contributed VeriSign Japan K.K.’s IPO in terms of business development and marketing. Presently manages funds at Hokkaido VC.

Tomonori YORITA

MA in Commerce from Otaru University of Commerce. Helped
us with forming funds and starting up companies as an intern
for HVC, and have experienced the establishment of, investment
in, and fostering Internet-related companies, university-launched
tech companies, software development firms, etc. at Japan
Asia Investment Co.,Ltd. Then joined an Internet-related
company and worked in its business development division.
Currently manages funds at HVC.
