Hokkaido Venture Capital, Inc. established a film fund "Leonie Fund."

Hokkaido Venture Capital, Inc. established a film fund - "Leonie
Investment Limited Partnership", for the theatrical film "Leonie", in
June 2007.
The title of this film "Leonie" is a first name of Leonie Gilmour, who is a mother of worldwide sculptor Isamu Noguchi. This film is directed and produced by Hisako Matsui (in Japanese) , and she draws the life of Leonie Gilmour.
At the last scene of the film, Moerenuma Park in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, is scheduled to be projected. Isamu Noguchi made the master plan of the park - The entire park is considered to be one complete sculpture - and the park is said his grand sum.
The production budget of this film is expected to be US$ 5 million, and this "Leonie Fund" is expected to account for one fifth of the budget and the rest are to be raised in Japan and in the U.S.
This initiative has the following features:
-It is the first case in Japan to support a single theatrical film via an Investment Limited Partnership.
-It is the first attempt in Japan to support the film produce that utilizes a regional art resource in the form of "film fund" invested by local businesses.
-This film is produced by the collaboration between Japan and U.S.
-A new funding chance is to be offered to filmmakers who are not dependent on the major film companies or/and media companies in Japan, especially in Sapporo.
