One of the HVC's portfolio company in US, Tacere Ttherapeutics, enters collaboration and license agreement with Pfizer to develop and commercialize RNAi Hepatitis C drug

HVC Global Investment, Inc. (HVCGI), together with HVC, Inc., placed a
founding capital by way of its venture capital fund 'HVCG1 Limited
Partnership Investment Fund' to a biotech start-up, Tacere
Therapeutics, Inc., an RNA interference (RNAi)-based therapeutics
developer in autumn 2006. Since then HVCGI has worked as its lead
venture capital. HVCGI is one of the subsidiaries of HVC, Inc., which
has Hokkaido Venture Capital, Inc. as another group company, and
provides financial services through such measures as M&A and
restructuring, as well as runs venture capital funding.
Tacere Therapeutics, Inc. announced on January 7, 2008 that the company entered into a collaboration and license agreement with Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) to develop and commercialize its Hepatitis C virus (HCV) compound, TT-033. In Japan, where a lawsuit by HCV patients infected by tainted blood products is due to settle, HCV treatment is one of the most important social concerns.
